September Is Packed With Things to Do in Grand Prairie

Cooler weather is hopefully on the way, and Grand Prairie, Texas has a busy lineup of festivals, food events and community activities throughout September 2026.

The month got started over Labor Day weekend with Downtown Grand Prairie's Pickle Fest and a free container-gardening class on September 5. But there is still plenty ahead.

Grand Fiestas Patrias | September 12

Grand Prairie's celebration of Hispanic culture and heritage returns to City Hall Plaza on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Grand Fiestas Patrias is officially scheduled from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., with the parade beginning at 10:00 a.m.


The City describes the event as a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month featuring a parade, food and community festivities.

The celebration is part of a larger lineup of Hispanic Heritage Month activities happening across Grand Prairie. Hispanic Heritage Month officially runs from September 15 through October 15, but Grand Prairie is getting the celebration started early with Fiestas Patrias.





Texas Monthly BBQ Family Reunion | September 19

Barbecue fans have a major event to look forward to at EpicCentral.

The 2nd Annual Texas Monthly BBQ Family Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, September 19 at EpicCentral, bringing Texas barbecue culture together for an evening in Grand Prairie.

EpicCentral describes the event as a gathering of barbecue talent from across Texas, with food, community, music and two-stepping.

September continues with a free community celebration at EpicCentral.

The National Night Out Kickoff Event is scheduled for Saturday, September 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Jambox and GrandLawn.

Mayor Ron Jensen's Cyclin' and Strollin' with the Mayor - Community Fair takes place Tuesday, September 29 at Fish Creek Linear Park.


The Community Fair begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the bike ride and walk at 6:30 p.m.


Riders and walkers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

These aren't the only things happening this month.

Grand Prairie's current Community Calendar also includes the Grand Prairie Farmers Market, gardening classes, community events, performances and other activities throughout September.


For example, additional September gardening opportunities include a Soil Types, Tests and Irrigation class on September 10, a Rain Barrels Class on September 19 and a Fruits and Their Pests community gardening class on September 24. The City says these classes are free, although advance registration is required.


September is only the beginning of Grand Prairie's fall event season, too, with more festivals, Halloween activities and community celebrations scheduled as the weather cools down.
