GTA 6 Is Officially 100 Days Away: The Countdown to Grand Theft Auto VI Begins Today

The countdown has officially entered its final 100 days.

As of August 11, 2026, there are exactly 100 days until Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games currently lists that date as the official release date for one of the most anticipated video games in history.

After years of speculation, trailers, delays and online discussion, the finish line is finally coming into view.

Rockstar officially moved the game to November 19, 2026, and Take-Two has since reiterated the release date through its official pre-order announcement.

  • PlayStation 5

  • Xbox Series X

  • Xbox Series S

Take-Two's June 2026 announcement confirms those platforms for the November launch.

Rockstar has not announced a PC release date in its current launch information, so PC players should avoid treating any unofficial date circulating online as confirmed.


How Much Will GTA 6 Cost?

Take-Two announced a $79.99 starting price for Grand Theft Auto VI when pre-orders opened in June 2026.

Rockstar is also offering multiple editions and pre-order benefits through its official GTA VI site.


Where Does GTA 6 Take Place?

We're going back to Vice City, but this is much bigger than another recreation of the familiar location.

Rockstar says GTA VI takes place across the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City serving as one of its central locations.

  • Grassrivers

  • Port Gellhorn

  • Ambrosia

  • Mount Kalaga National Park

That suggests players will be exploring considerably more than the urban streets of Vice City alone.


Meet Jason and Lucia

GTA VI centers around Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Rockstar describes the pair as being pulled into a criminal conspiracy after an apparently easy score goes wrong, forcing them to depend on one another to survive.


Lucia Caminos

Lucia has recently emerged from the Leonida Penitentiary and is determined to change the direction of her life.

Rockstar says she learned to fight from her father when she was young and wants the better life her mother once imagined for her.


Jason Duval

Jason grew up around criminals and hustlers before spending time in the Army. He eventually ended up working with drug runners in the Keys.

Together, Jason and Lucia appear to form the emotional and narrative center of GTA VI.


More Characters Have Already Been Revealed

Rockstar has also introduced several supporting characters inhabiting Leonida.

They include:

  • Cal Hampton

  • Boobie Ike

  • Dre'Quan Priest

  • Real Dimez

  • Raul Bautista

  • Brian Heder

Rockstar's expanded character profiles suggest that GTA VI will feature interconnected stories involving music, organized crime, smuggling and Vice City's nightlife.


GTA 6 Pre-Orders Are Already Open

Official pre-orders began on June 25, 2026.

Rockstar's current editions page lists a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition, along with pre-order incentives including the Vintage Vice City Pack.

There Is Another Major GTA 6 Reveal Coming Before Launch

And the 100-day countdown isn't the only reason GTA fans should be paying attention.

Rockstar's official GTA VI website currently promotes an "Extended Look" scheduled for August 27.
